MASTER OF THEOLOGY

The Master of Theology (AQF level 9 Masters Research) course has been designed for research to be undertaken normally in one field of specialisation within the Departments of Bible and Language, Christian Thought and History, or Ministry and Practice.

The Master of Theology is used as a research degree for theology graduates who are already engaged in the ministerial profession and are aspiring to be teachers in theological colleges in Australia and overseas.

  • Language Qualifications for NESB: IELTS 7.5 overall with a minimum of 7.5 in reading and writing, 7.0 in listening, and 6.5 in speaking
Graduate Outcomes Graduates with existing theological qualifications who are already engaged in the ministerial profession and complete this course will be equipped to be teachers in theological colleges in Australia and overseas. Graduates of the course may go on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Ministry.

Master of Theology candidates are supported by their individual supervisory teams and through a series of postgraduate seminars that are held throughout the year. Each year in August a Research Conference (RESCON) is held for all research candidates.

The college’s availability to offer supervision to particular candidates depends on whether we have a member of faculty with expertise in the subject area chosen, and their current supervisory capacity.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY

The Doctor of Philosophy degree is designed for candidates who have a prior degree in theology or in a field other than theology. The course has been designed for research to be undertaken normally in one field of specialisation within the Departments of Bible and Language, Christian Thought and History, or Ministry and Practice.

The degree will equip men and women as beginning researchers in a broad range of fields of study related to the humanities and social sciences and provide a qualification recognised by theological and Bible colleges as well as universities for those who teach in these fields.
