Who
Tim Foster
Leaders are made, not born. This unit will serve as a basis for your personal leadership development and effective organisational management. Whether you will be leading a Christian, not-for-profit, or corporate organisation, or a church, you will be given theory, skills and tools to transform organisations, empower people and manage yourself effectively. In the style of a mini-MBA, Principles of Leadership & Management will give you skills across a range of key leadership and management competencies. There is a particular focus on developing a transformational leadership style that embodies integrity, strategic focus and empowerment to promote growth and change.
Lecturer
Tim Foster has been leading organisations since 1999 when he was appointed to lead a large team in the Training Division of Anglican Youthworks where founded Youthworks College. He then led a church renewal as pastor of an in urban church in Sydney, significantly growing the church and shifting its culture from fear to engagement with the local community. Since 2009 he has served in the Executive Leadership of Ridley College as Vice Principal driving change, growth and innovation.
Tim is an ordained priest, having trained at Moore Theological College. He received a Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Seminary, California, with a thesis on the relationship of Church, Gospel and Australian Culture. His book, The Suburban Captivity of the Church is a provocative study of the complicity of the evangelical gospel with suburban aspirations, and a challenge to contextualise the gospel for battlers, urbanites and other groups outside the traditional evangelical constituency. In 2003 he completed a Master of Management (an MBA for non-profit leadership and management) at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Tim combines his diverse experience, dynamic leadership style, and formal management training to offer a theologically grounded unit that will serve as an excellent foundation for your personal leadership development and effective organisational management.
