Pastor/Elder: Oakleigh Anglican Church

Posted: 30/05/18

Oakleigh Christian Fellowship is an associate church with the Christian Community Churches in Victoria and Tasmania.

It is located in a residential area and the demography round the church has changed much over the years with much new building and new residents as well as some low socio-economic housing within a couple of kilometre radius around the church. There is a State Primary School nearby and we are not far from Monash University. We are about halfway between Clayton and Oakleigh shopping and community centres.

OCF has been established for over 40 years and operates from its own established church building and property. The original ministry of the church was a combination of helping people coming out of a church environment that was developing into a cult, plus gospel outreach to surrounding community which at that time had many growing families with primary and secondary school aged children.

The church has a high missionary interest and involvement and is involved in local outreaches in partnership with local Presbyterian, Church of Christ, Anglican, Baptist and other churches.

OCF is evangelistic, and puritan and reformed in its doctrinal position.

It has a traditional open communion service followed by Sunday School and expository Bible teaching that encourages people to live according to God’s word and be effective witnesses for Christ. OCF is congregational and led by a church eldership team, which makes decisions in consultation with church members. Its current Pastor is a volunteer; a retired pensioner with overseas missionary experience.

The church is seeking to grow and renew its outreach to the local community and sees the need for a youngerish pastor with a heart for God and a call to urban ministry to help expand its present ministry.

OCF is seeking a Pastor who is capable of building on the investment of its current Pastor and members in growing the church, develop a local youth and family ministry, and services to the community ministering to those in need.
