Mandarin Outreach Position: AFES Melbourne Uni

Expressions of interest are sought for a Mandarin speaker to join the AFES staff team at Melbourne Uni to extend our outreach and ministry to international students.


About AFES
The vision of AFES is proclaiming Jesus Christ at university to present everyone mature in Him, reaching students at 55+ campuses in every state and territory of Australia. AFES employs staff and trains apprentices who help and encourage students in their Christian growth and witness


Role Summary
The role of the FOCUS/Cross Cultures team as a whole is to:

  1. Pray for, and share the gospel with, international students.
  2. Disciple and train Christian international students, and help them prepare to return home as evangelists and Christian leaders.
  3. Extend Christian hospitality to international students new to Australia (both Christians and non-Christians)

FOCUS(海外基督徒大学生团契)/ Cross Cultures(跨文化)团队的整体职责是:

  1. 为国际学生祷告并与他们分享福音;
  2. 帮助国际学生成为基督徒并提供培训,帮助他们预备自己,在回国后成为传道人和基督徒带领人;
  3. 向刚到澳大利亚的国际学生(无论是否基督徒)展现基督徒的热情好客。

The successful candidate will be part of the team in all these roles, and especially be responsible for teaching the Bible in Mandarin and training Mandarin-speaking students and apprentices to teach the Bible in Mandarin.


Knowledge, skills and experience



Remuneration is according to standard AFES rates for theologically trained staff. Please note you will need to develop partnerships with individuals and churches to raise the funding required for this position. Support and training in this partnership ministry will be provided.
