Children’s Minister – All Saints City

Posted: 17/12/19

The All Saints Anglican Network is a collection of small-medium sized evangelical churches located across the greater region of Launceston, Tasmania. As a Parish we are seeking to move towards a ‘Minster’ model of ministry. The All Saints Anglican Network desires to have a significant influence for the sake of the Kingdom of Christ across the north of Tasmania. All Saints Anglican Network is committed to the Diocesan vision to ‘Be a Church for Tasmania, making disciples of Jesus’ and in line with this our vision is to be a network of churches that are “Seeking the spiritual renewal of Launceston and the north of Tasmania as we make disciples of Jesus Christ.”

The Children’s Minister role is based in the All Saints City (St John’s) Campus. It is the largest of the four sites, with an average weekly attendance of 220 across three congregations. Only our 10 am service has a specific ministry to children, through ‘Kid’s Church’ which has around 15 children each week. Our 5 pm congregation, whilst not having a specific children’s ministry has a growing number of children, particularly ‘tweens’ and we would love to explore ways of helping them grow spiritually. Because our congregations are comprised largely of an older demographic, we have also struggled to conduct services that are family-friendly. We would love to see this change.

Outside of a Sunday, the Children’s minister has oversight of our two weekly Mainly Music programs. Across the two, we have around 30 children and their guardians, mostly of a non-church background, joining in. We have struggled to make links and build relationships that connect people beyond the Mainly Music programs to our wider church community. Both groups are very well supported by committed volunteers.

The Diocese of Tasmania is a ChildSafe Organisation.
