About the Role

Youth Intern/Minister

1 – 2 days per week*

The successful applicant will be employed as Youth Ministry Intern/Minister depending on their qualifications and experience.

You will be working with an experienced team of Staff and volunteers and at least one Trainee Leader. The time fraction includes attendance and leadership at 4-5 Friday nights per Term for our outreach nights [3- 4 hours depending on acitivity] and Sunday nights [3 hours] during term time with our core youth. You will commit to one hour supervision per week and 3 hours of relational discipleship and activity preparation per week. A travel allowance may be negotiated. There will be a Youth Retreat/Camp during the year. Possibly a Saturday night/Sunday.

We are also looking for someone keen to work in outreach – at schools and in the community.
You will be required to complete Child Safe training and Checks before commencing in the role. Your position will be reviewed at 3 months and 6 months and at the end of the year.

*There may be an opportunity to extend your role in both breadth [hours worked and role assumed] and longevity [contract as Youth Ministry Leader for a longer period of time] following your reviews.

We are looking for a person who loves Jesus and people and can get alongside our youth and connect relationally and faithfully show them what apprenticeship to Jesus looks like, both by word and example. The successful applicant will be involved in speaking to the group up front, leading group activities, taking responsibility for planning and facilitating events, encouraging, discipling, training, and reporting, and have a humble teachable heart.

About St Luke’s Anglican Church Cockatoo

St Luke’s is a bible based [evangelical] church that is well known in the local community of Cockatoo and surrounds in the beautiful hills of the Dandenong Ranges. We have contact with hundreds of families through our playgroups, after school kids’ programs and Food Store. We have a strong relationship with the local Primary schools in Cockatoo and Gembrook. Many of our core youth volunteer in the after school programs and are being trained as leaders for Friday nights as well as worship and discipleship on Sundays. We registered up to 35 youth in attendance at Friday night events last year. Our core group is smaller but growing strong in their faith.
