Pastoral Supervision Professional Development: Perspectives

When: 31 August 2021, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

Speakers: Nicky Chiswell, Len Firth, Richard Trist

Ridley College is excited to host a Pastoral Supervision Professional Development Day. We have developed this program to address the need for ongoing skills development and to contribute to annual accreditation requirements.

Perspectives is a new Ridley initiative for pastoral supervision professional development which forms a key component of ongoing accreditation for those who practice as ministry supervisors. The reflective process of pastoral supervision has been a significant support for ministry practitioners and church leaders. In this complex COVID context, Christian leaders have reported experiencing exhaustion and a high level of emotional cost.

Pastoral supervisors need to hone their skills to face the challenges of this time. Denominations and churches are recognising the imperative of supervision for various ministries. Ridley College has been teaching supervision units for several years. We will now be providing professional development for qualified supervisors, and for people working in comparable fields such as ministry coaching and field education.
