Charles Perry Lecture
The Desire of the Nations: Claiming our Christian Heritage in the interests of Australia’s Future

When: 7 May 2020, 5:30 pm

Speakers: Stuart Piggin, Peter Corney

**Please be advised that on the advice of government authorities, Ridley College has decided to postpone the Charles Perry Lecture.**

This past year marked a landmark achievement: the publication of an evangelical history of Australia in two volumes, which is now the best book on the subject and perhaps the best example of how evangelicals have contributed to any nation in the world. Stuart Piggin, with his colleague Robert Linder, have been working on the project for thirty years, so we are delighted that Stuart will deliver this year’s Charles Perry Lecture and that Peter Corney, long time Vicar of St Hilary’s Kew, will launch his book Attending to the National Soul. This is the second volume of the project, with the first The Fountain of Public Prosperity winning the Australian Christian Book of the Year Award in 2019.

There will be an opportunity to buy copies of the books for $50 at the conclusion of the lecture.

The Charles Perry Lecture commemorates the first Bishop of Melbourne, whose evangelical witness in this city was profound. The event is co-sponsored by St James’ Old Cathedral West Melbourne, Bishop Perry’s seat.
