Ridley College Announcement: Welcoming the Venerable Dr Tim Johnson

Ridley College is delighted to announce the appointment of The Venerable Dr Tim Johnson as our new Lecturer in Preaching and Pastoral Theology and Dean of the Anglican Institute, commencing in February 2026.
Tim brings a wealth of experience in pastoral ministry, theological education, and strategic leadership. He has served as Senior Minister at St John’s Anglican Church, Diamond Creek since 2013, overseeing a vibrant multi-congregational parish and leading a diverse ministry team. Since 2021, he has also held the role of Archdeacon of the Yarra in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne, where he has contributed significantly to diocesan leadership, mission strategy, and clergy development.
Tim is no stranger to Ridley, having previously served as a Visiting Lecturer, and as a Director of the Board and Chair of the Appeal Development Committee (2008 – 2017). His academic background includes a Master of Divinity from Ridley College, where he was awarded multiple prizes for excellence in theology and biblical studies, and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Sydney, where his thesis received the H. Tasman Lovell Medal for best doctoral dissertation.
Beyond his parish and diocesan roles, Tim has been actively involved in international ministry through the Langham Partnership, training pastors in preaching in Papua New Guinea, and currently serves as a Director of Anglican Overseas Aid.
Tim’s passion for preaching, pastoral care, and theological formation will be a tremendous asset to Ridley College and the wider church. We look forward to welcoming him into this new season of ministry and leadership.
Please join us in praying for Tim as he prepares to conclude his ministry at St John’s and transitions into his new role at Ridley.
