Train for Ordained Ministry in the Anglican Church

Train for Ordained Ministry in the Anglican Church

The Anglican Institute

A specialised formation community equipping future leaders with theological rigour, missional vision, and pastoral depth — right here in Melbourne.

What the Anglican Institute is about?

Everything we do is shaped by three interconnected areas of focus that move from personal formation outward into the church and the world.

01

Missional Leadership

Teaching core competencies and nurturing godly character for effective ordained service.

02

Research & Publications

Exploring Anglican identity, history, and contemporary mission through rigorous scholarship.

03

Public Lectures

Equipping churches and leaders for future gospel ministry through conferences and events.

What we want our ordinands to be like?

  • Mission-minded — creating evangelistic culture in traditional and fresh expressions of church
  • Skilled in Bible teaching and gospel preaching
  • Effective in leadership, team-building, and creative vision
  • Gifted in leading public worship
  • Spiritually disciplined through daily prayer and Bible study
  • Strong in interpersonal skills — self-aware and able to develop healthy relationships
  • Theologically rigorous with a commitment to ongoing study

How will we achieve this?

  • A comprehensive programme of teaching in Bible, Theology, and Practical Ministry units leading to a Master of Divinity, Master of Ministry, Bachelor of Theology, or Bachelor of Ministry
  • A Monday Anglican formation program including participation in Monday chapel services, plenary sessions and enrolment in units such as Anglican Identity; Anglican Prayer Book; Introduction to Reflective Practice.
  • Field placements which include both traditional and missional churches
  • Encouraging mentoring opportunities.
