Nov Mon 26 TEL AVIV to the DEAD SEA Arriving in the Morning

Arrive Tel Aviv in the morning. Our first stop is Tel Beersheba, where we descend the water channel. Then we explore the remains of the fortified city at Tel Arad. We then proceed to the Dead Sea, there will be time to swim (float, 33 percent salt) in the Dead Sea, use the spa, and relax in the pools around the hotel. O/N Dead Sea D

Nov Tue 27 DEAD SEA

We begin with a visit to the oasis of Ein Gedi, where we go for a walk to the waterfall. Next we visit Masada (Jewish Stronghold against the Romans) where we ride the cable car to the top. After descending, we travel to a Bedouin camp for a late lunch, an introduction to the desert lifestyle and a camel ride. O/N Dead Sea B, L, D

Nov Wed 28 DEAD SEA and BETH SHEAN

Our first visit this morning is to Qumran. Next we visit the baptismal site of Jesus near Bethany on the Jordan, before going along the Jordan Valley (a view over Jericho) to Galilee. Before we arrive in Galilee, we explore the massive Roman city at Beth Shean. O/N Tiberias. B, D

Nov Thu 29 GALILEE and NAZARETH

Visit the church of Annunciation in Nazareth, St. Gabriel’s Church (well), continue to the Arble Cliff to hike down. O/N Tiberias B, D

Nov Fri 30 Around the SEA OF GALILEE

Jesus’ Ministry around the Sea of Galilee. Visit the Capernaum Synagogue from the time of Jesus, the Church of the Multiplication, and the Primacy Church. This day we have St. Peter’s fish for lunch, and take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee (Nof Ginossar Boat) before visiting the Mt. Beatitudes and the excavations at Tiberias. O/N Tiberias B, L, D

Dec Sat 01 THE NORTHERN BORDER

Visit Caesarea Philippi/Banias (a Roman cultic site and place of Peter’s ‘Great Confession’) and Dan. Take an easy walk at Tel Dan along one of the sources of the Jordan River and view the Southern Lebanon border (altar and reconstructed city gate at Dan). Drive up to Mt. Bental to view over Syria and views of Mt Hermon and the border between Israel and Syria. O/N Tiberias B, D

Dec Sun 02 GALILEE to TEL AVIV                                                           

The Mediterranean Coast. We travel through the Jezreel valley past Mt Tabor towards the coast. Drive via Mt. Carmel (site of Elijah’s contest with the priests of Baal) to the impressive site at Megiddo. Visit Caesarea Maritima, (built by King Herod the Great and port from which Paul returned from his missionary journeys). O/N Tel Aviv B, D

Dec Mon 03 TEL AVIV

Visit Joppa, and the Eretz Israel Museum at the Philistine site of Tel Qasile.                Free afternoon. O/N Tel Aviv. B, D

Dec Tue 04 JERUSALEM           

Today we visit the Temple Mount platform including the Dome of the Rock and Al Aksa mosque. Next we go to Zion, including the Church of the Dormition and Upper Room; then St. Peter’s Gallicantu (the traditional house of Caiaphas), City of David; Hezekiah’s Tunnel & Pool of Siloam. O/N Jerusalem B, D

Dec Wed 05 JERUSALEM

Mt. of Olives and Christian Quarter. Stand on top of Mt. of Olives and view the city as Jesus did. Walk the Palm Sunday route, visiting the Church of Dominus Flevit (where our Lord Wept). Garden of Gethsemane’s Church of All Nations. Enter the old city through St. Stephen’s Gate to the Bethesda Pools, and Antonia Fortress, and sing at St. Anne’s Crusader Church. Walk along the Via Dolorosa, visiting the Stations of the Cross and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.                         O/N Jerusalem B, D

Dec Thu 06 JERUSALEM

Jesus’ Teachings in the Temple. Visit the Old City of Jerusalem, starting from starting with Jaffa Gate and Citadel Museum. Walk on the walls. Then to the Jewish Quarter (including the Cardo) and the Southern Wall excavations O/N Jerusalem B, D

Dec Fri 07 JERUSALEM

Morning at the Garden Tomb for visit and communion. Then to the Holocaust Museum. Continue to the Israel Museum, including the Shrine of the Book (home of the Dead Sea Scrolls) and the Model of Jerusalem Western wall for beginning of Shabbat.                         O/N Jerusalem            B, D

Dec Sat 08 HERODION and BETHLEHEM – JERUSALEM

Lecture and lunch at Bethlehem Bible College. Visit Church & Shepherds’ field then Herod’s palace at Herodion, O/N Jerusalem. B, D

Dec Sun 09 JERUSALEM to TEL AVIV DEPARTURE

Jerusalem. Early worship with local believers at St. George’s Cathedral, then free time until late afternoon bus to Tel Aviv airport, for a night departure B

No Hotel accommodations after 12:00 noon. Hotel will store the luggage.
