The Ridley Certificate was designed to provide biblical training for individuals. Its combination of short video lectures and handouts also makes it usable in group settings.

Each subject can be completed in 6 or 12 sessions.

A sample outline:

  • Welcome (2 minutes)
  • Review of previous week (5 minutes)
  • Introduction (5 minutes)
  • Theme for this session
  • Learning outcomes
  • Outline
  • Watch Video Part A (20 minutes)
  • Discussion (20 minutes)
  • Supper break (10 – 15 minutes)
  • Watch Video Part B (20 minutes)
  • Discussion (20 – 30 minutes)
  • Complete review quiz ( If participants have computer/tablet access) (10 minutes).
  • Close

The 12 week format would divide each of the 6 lessons over 2 weeks, thus allowing time for socialising and prayer.

If used in a group setting we will provide group facilitators with free access to materials, but members of groups will need to enrol individually. We offer the special price of $50 for the Bible Overview, and $80 for every subject after that.

Access to online materials is a great educational advantage for group members. They can review the videos, take the quizzes, and explore other resources available.

If you are interested in doing the Certificate in a group setting, please contact us via certificate@ridley.edu.au, and indicate in the subject line that you are a Group Facilitator. As well as providing you with access, we will give you Top Ten Tips for Facilitators, which will help you prepare. In addition, a Facilitator’s Guide has been developed for Bible Overview, which provides extra material for dealing with the discussion and reflection questions.

How does the Certificate work for those studying in home groups?

  •  With home groups, it is probably easiest to do one video lecture per evening, followed by discussion questions. This will take about an hour. Done in this way, each subject would run over 12 weeks.
  • The benefit of individuals enrolling is that they can catch up on the material if they miss a week, do missed questions as homework, and complete practice quizzes every two weeks. They may also do the final quiz and get credit if they ever decide to complete the full Certificate.
  • For group study, you will need one person to log in, load up and screen the video. You would therefore need a monitor big enough for comfortable viewing, or access via a SmartTV.
