The warning passages in the book of Hebrews, particularly Hebrews 6, have been the subject of controversy in New Testament studies. Schreiner has argued in previous efforts that the warnings function as a means of salvation. A number of criticisms have been raised against such a reading, and in this lecture he attempts to answer such criticisms.

Prof. Thomas R. Schreiner is the James Buchanan Harrison Professor of New Testament Interpretation at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He is the author of several works including Romans (BECNT), Galatians (ZECNT), Interpreting the Pauline Epistles, Paul: Apostle of God’s Glory in Christ, Faith Alone: The Doctrine of Justification, The Race Set Before Us, and Commentary on Hebrews.
