Talk 1: The Light of the World

1 Corinthians 2:6-16

“from of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you” (Is. 64:4)

    •  When it comes to knowing God, Paul insists that human beings are in the murkiest and inkiest of darkness
    •  Against this unflattering backdrop of darkness, Paul turns on the light of the gospel of the cross and the Spirit
    •  Even though no one knows the thoughts of God, we have the mind of Christ

Talk 2: The End of Envy

1 Corinthians 3:1-4

“A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot” (Prov. 14:30)

  • All Christians need to grow up
  • Envy is a sure sign of spiritual immaturity
  • To end envy you need to focus on the end
  • To end envy you need love

Talk 3: Happily Unmarried

Please note, the first portion of this talk was not recorded for technical reasons.

1 Corinthians 7:25-40

Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready” (Rev. 19:7)

  • Singleness can have practical advantages
  • The End urges a new valuation of the present
  • In the end being single does not define you
  • The wedding to end all weddings
