About City On A Hill (Geelong)

City on a Hill began with a small team and a big vision to make a difference in our world for the glory of God. Since our inception in Melbourne in 2007, we have witnessed a special work of God’s grace as he has united hundreds of men and women around the mission of ‘knowing Jesus and making Jesus known’. City on a Hill now meets across nine locations in five cities.

As part of this mission, we are called to serve the poor, the outcast, the sick, and the lonely. In 2009, Many Rooms was established as the mercy ministry of City on a Hill. Since then, with the support of an army of faithful volunteers, Many Rooms has been serving those in need through the provision of nutritious meals, care packs, companionship, and other forms of aid. In 2019, Many Rooms was appointed by the Federal Department of Health to be an auspice under the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS). This is a program aimed to diminish the sense of loneliness and isolation experienced by older people living in an aged care home or in their own home, through visits from caring volunteers who commit to visiting on a regular basis to provide friendship and companionship. We called this The Living Room.

In 2023, our grant funding was renewed and increased for a further 3 years. As a result, we are now seeking to expand the Living Room. CVS is now known as the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS).
