About the Role

Student Movement Mentor and Schools Program Music Co-ordinator

Part-time, 1 day a week

Your role with the Student Movement would be to assist in the training and mentoring of student leaders. 

From time to time, you may be required to visit youth groups, camps, churches and gatherings to inspire students to start new lunchtime groups.

Your role with the Schools Program Team would be to lead the music at seminars and chapel services and recruit and organise volunteers to assist in a band.

From time to time, you may be required to assist in other aspects of the presentations. On average there are 10-15 Schools Programs a year.  They are on various days during the week and therefore flexibility is required.

Student Movement

• Participate in the support given to Student Leaders, including communicating with leaders, visiting groups, coaching leaders, referring resources and facilitating connections between groups
• Be the key mentor for several Student Leaders
• Assist in the running of some of the Student Leader zoom training and sessions
• Assist in the planning and delivery of Mustard-run Student conferences and camps (1-3 a year) 
• Be involved in presentations to youth groups, camps, churches and conferences to inspire new Lunchtime Group Leaders (estimated 6 x a year)

Schools Programs

• Work with the Schools Program Director to choose musical items for seminars and chapel services, noting that some schools like the students to be involved in the singing and some don’t
• Recruit and train volunteers to be part of a band 
• Participate in other aspects of Schools Programs as required e.g. testimony, talk, game

About Mustard Leadership

Mustard is an organisation that exists to transform lives through Jesus in schools.  We do this through our Student Movement consisting of student-led Lunchtime Groups, and our Schools Programs that are aimed at exploring faith and life in big group presentations.

Mustard Student Movement

The Mustard Student Movement is a movement of young people committed to living out their faith at school. The primary expression of the Student Movement is through Lunchtime Groups, where communities of Christian students gather together weekly, explore ideas of faith and life, and encourage one another to live it out in action. Mustard recruits student leaders to run these lunchtime groups and then empower, equip and encourage them to be leaders for Jesus in their schools.

Schools Programs

Mustard’s Schools Programs are big group presentations which may be in the form of a chapel service, a program that is integrated into a faith week or an extended presentation with discussion. We take the cultural norms young people face today – from mental health to social media to identity and present them with a Christian worldview.  The goal is to involve the lunchtime group from the school or other Christians so that students have a Christian connection in the school after the program is over.
