About the Role

Registrar

Part-time (30 hours/week)

This is a senior role at the heart of diocesan life. Working closely with the Bishop, Diocesan Council and Synod, the Registrar ensures that the structures, systems and governance of the Diocese serve and strengthen its mission across the Northern Territory.

We are looking for someone who combines professional governance expertise with pastoral wisdom, discretion and a deep respect for the life of the Church Key Responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Governance & Canonical Compliance

• Maintain diocesan records, registers and canonical documentation
• Administer clergy licensing processes
• Ensure compliance with Constitution, Canons and Ordinances
• Act as Company Secretary and Public Officer
• Execute authorised documents under Common Seal

Diocesan Governance

• Serve as Secretary to Diocesan Council and Property & Finance Committee
• Prepare agendas and minutes
• Monitor implementation of governance decisions
• Provide governance advice to the Bishop and Diocesan Council.

Regulatory & Risk Oversight

• Oversee regulatory and statutory compliance (including ACNC obligations)
• Maintain risk management and delegations frameworks
• Provide governance review of significant property and financial matters

Advisory & Parish Support

• Provide governance advice to the Bishop and parishes
• Contribute to strategic planning from a governance perspective
• Act as liaison between the Diocese and key external stakeholders

About Anglican Diocese of the Northern Territory

The Diocese exists to advance the mission of the Church across the Northern Territory through parishes, chaplaincies, religious education in schools and other ministries.

Operational functions (including property project delivery, HR administration, event coordination and grant preparation) are undertaken by designated staff or external advisers. The Registrar provides governance oversight and compliance assurance to these functions
