Parish Youth Worker – St Luke’s Anglican Church Cockatoo

Posted: 24/03/21

St Luke’s Cockatoo-Gembrook has grown as an outward looking church that has established a strong collaborative presence in a local semi-rural or peri-urban community, set in the scenic Dandenong Ranges.
There is a strong commitment to sound biblical teaching, to growing members in faith, and developing a faith-in-action while discipling servant culture. This has seen, members initiating and becoming involved in a number of church and community- based programs. These include after school activities, mentoring, play groups, food store, and a no interest loans scheme. Church activities are facilitated by roomy, well-appointed mud brick facilities, including an ample hall, small group spaces, office spaces, and excellent kitchen/catering areas.

In this active church we are thankful to have been able to employ a part-time youth worker and more recently to fund a child and family ministry. The impacts have confirmed for us the strategic significance of such ministries for growth in faith and discipleship while also facilitating evangelism through love in action.

Having filled the Children’s and Family Worker Position, we are enthusiastically seeking a new suitable person or persons to lead and progress youth work in our parish.

A detailed Position Description and Parish Profile giving history and context for the positions is available on request from the Interim Senior Minister
