Community Pastor: St John’s Launceston

Posted: 16/02/18

Do you love Jesus, love people and love seeing people shaped by His love in the way we love others? Are you a strategic thinker? Willing to take a risk? Can you bring others along with you? Do you love being a part of a vibrant supportive team? Enjoy training and teaching? Want to live in a beautiful part of Australia? Have a coffee addiction? You could be our Community Pastor.

St John’s is a medium-sized evangelical Anglican church in the heart of Launceston, Tasmania. Established in 1824, St John’s continues to have a presence in the north of Tasmania that belies its modest size. St John’s is committed to the diocesan vision to ‘Be a Church for Tasmania making disciples’ and in line with this our vision is to be a church that “promotes Jesus, makes disciples and influences Launceston as we seek its spiritual transformation.”

We are seeking a godly and gifted person to be a full-time 1.0 (though would be open to consider 0.8 for the right person) Community Pastor at St John’s.

The role of the Community Pastor is:

  • To foster a culture of ‘life as mission’
  • To equip and encourage the members of St John’s to invest themselves in one another and their community, to love and serve people so that they might share Jesus with those who do not yet know him, with a particular emphasis on students and families
  • To create opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus with the local community through the building of genuine relationships
