Children’s and Families Minister

Part-time

St Luke’s Cockatoo is looking to engage a Children’s and Young Families Minister. The role consists of ministry with Pre-school and Primary Age Children and their families within the church, and also in engaging with non churched Children and Families in the communities of Cockatoo and Gembrook. Following engagement and 6 month review, this exciting Christian leadership role will be offered for 3 years with the potential for extension into the future. There may also be the opportunity for the successful candidate to secure an extra day in a role within our pre-school/ primary HCSI partner programs. This extra opportunity is presently funded for 12 months and ECHO are looking to secure ongoing funding for the future.

About St Luke’s Anglican Church Cockatoo

St Luke’s is a growing multi-age congregation with a strategic vision and mission to make and mature disciples of Christ. We have a well established and respected community presence in the Eastern Hills. We currently have connections with our local Primary School and Secondary College. Two of our congregation members are chaplains in these schools.

We also host HCSI [ECHO] run programs for pre-school [Jitterbugs playgroups – 2 mornings in Cockatoo and 1 morning in Gembrook] and primary aged programs [K-motion after school and 2XL mentoring and family dinner] weekly during term time. Secondary aged youth volunteer as leaders in these after school programs. The applicant would therefore have the opportunity to connect with 130+ children and their parents weekly during term time. The number of young families at St Luke’s is growing and we have started offering Messy Church once per term [Sundays at 4pm] and are setting up a Kid’s Church roster for 10am services on Sundays.

We are a friendly bunch living in a very beautiful part of the world. The church buildings are on a property next to Cockatoo Creek and below the Puffing Billy Station in Cockatoo. St Luke’s is the only church in Cockatoo. Gembrook is also a part of our parish, where missional opportunities abound. Plenty of cafes offer great coffee and food, and if you like biking, walking, trains, forests, creeks and stunning views of the mountains over semi-rural properties then perhaps God is calling you to come and join us to partner in the ministry of his gospel here in Cockatoo and surrounds
