New Board Members

Ridley College is pleased to announce the appointment of Wei-Han Kuan, Mark Chew and Geoff Buchanan to the Ridley Board.

WeiHan2Wei-Han Kuan is a graduate of the college who came to Ridley to train for Anglican ordination in 2001. After a first curacy he returned to undertake doctoral research in the history of evangelicalism in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. Wei-Han has served as the college archivist and as an adjunct lecturer. He is the State Director of the Church Missionary Society – Victoria.

Mark Chew is currently an assistant curate at Mark-Chew2Holy Trinity Doncaster, as a congregational pastor for both the evening and Australian-born Chinese congregations. Prior to ordained ministry, Mark was a corporate and financial adviser to governments on public and social infrastructure projects. Consequently, he is committed to helping Christians develop their role as Christ’s ambassadors in the workplace. As a recent graduate of Ridley College, Mark wants to see the College continue its vital role in training and equipping God’s people for Gospel ministry both in Melbourne and further afield.

Geoff-Buchanan2Geoff Buchanan has worked in portfolio management for a venture capital fund, finance and legal management within the aluminium industry, as well as mainstream legal practice. He has served as a Director or Chairman on company boards in a diverse range of industries from plant genetic engineering, to electronic commerce, to road maintenance. In the decade to 1999, Geoff served as the Finance Director and Company Secretary of Australia’s largest listed labour hire company, and then established a mergers and acquisitions practice serving medium sized Australian businesses. Geoff worships at St Silas and St Hilary’s. He is a member of the Council of the Diocese, the Camp Cormorant Committee, and Chairman of Anglican Funds.

The Ridley Board is responsible for ensuring the overall performance and good governance of Ridley College, through considering and approving strategic direction, setting key objectives and performance measures, and monitoring the performance of the college. “We are delighted to have people of such calibre join us in exercising these responsibilities” says Claire Rogers, Chair of the Board.

The Board is committed to comprising a balance of clergy and lay Directors with an appropriate range of skills, experience and expertise. All members are chosen because of their sound understanding and competence to deal with current and emerging issues.

These appointments will help ensure Ridley’s future in the vital ministry of equipping men and women for God’s mission in the church and the world.
