Preaching to the Heart

Annual Preachers' Conference

The Annual Preachers’ Conference is designed to train you in preaching God’s word to the mind, heart, and will of members of your congregation. The theme for the conference is Preaching to the Heart with our trainer Andrew Katay. Andrew leads City to City Australia and is the Rector of Christ Church Inner West in Sydney. The conference will help you grow and develop your preaching of God’s word as you seek to engage your listeners’ minds, hearts, and wills.

The 2022 Ridley Preachers’ Conference will be held on campus at Ridley College, as well as at a number of hubs around the country (TBC). The hubs will be facilitated by experienced preachers, and will give you the opportunity to work with others in small groups. There will also be the option to participate in the conference online if you cannot attend in person.

Main Speaker

AndrewKatay

Rev'd Andrew Katay

Rev'd Andrew Katay is married to Catriona, and together they have 3 adult children, and a very geriatric cat. Andrew currently serves as Senior Minister of Christ Church Inner West in Sydney, as well as CEO of City to City Australia. He completed his DMin with a Major Project on preaching to the heart. He wishes both his preaching and his golf would improve.

Hear from The Rev'd Dr Andrew Katay, our key speaker about the conference theme 'Preaching to the heart'.

Other Speakers

MikeR

Rev’d Mike Raiter

Centre for Biblical Preaching

Michael Raiter is a gifted, internationally recognised speaker of the Christian faith. Born in Liverpool, England and raised in New South Wales, Australia, Mike began his career as a high school teacher in Sydney and Pakistan. He studied at Moore Theological College in Sydney, becoming the head of the Department of Missions in 1997. On concluding his study at Moore, he returned to Pakistan to teach at the Zarephath Bible Institute. Subsequently, he worked with Church Missionary Society Australia and Interserve in Pakistan. From 2006–2011, Mike served as the principal of the Melbourne School of Theology, an evangelical theological college.

Mike is currently the Director of the Centre for Biblical Preaching, an organisation that seeks to train and equip churches around the globe in expository preaching. Mike is also the author of a number of books, including Stirrings of the Soul: Evangelicals and the New Spirituality which won the 2004 SPCK Australian Christian Book of the Year Award.

PhilC

Rev’d Phil Campbell

The Scots' Church, Melbourne

Phil Campbell is the recently appointed Senior Minister at The Scots’ Church, Melbourne, where he is doing his best to develop fresh strategies for post-pandemic ministry in the heart of the city. Phil is the co-author of the preaching primer “Saving Eutychus”, which distills what he’s learned about ‘preaching that keeps people awake’ during 32 years of ministry. Prior to moving to Melbourne, Phil pastored a large, contemporary suburban congregation and lectured in preaching at Queensland Theological College. Phil and Louise have four adult kids, and eleven grandkids.

StephJ

Rev’d Stephanie Judd

City on a Hill, Melbourne

Stephanie is an ordained minister within the Anglican Church, a preacher, teacher, and a writer. She is passionate about helping people to find life and joy in Jesus and to live courageously for him.

Stephanie studied theology at Moore Theological College in Sydney. She serves on the leadership team at City on a Hill, a movement of many churches committed to seeing ten cities reached with the beauty, truth, and relevance of Jesus by planting 50 churches.

In addition to her role at City on a Hill, Stephanie preaches and teaches regularly at various events at conferences and is a writer for The Gospel Coalition Australia.

Stephanie Judd is married to Andrew. Together they have a driven and deep-thinking four-year-old named Joshua, and a dramatic two-year-old girl called Chloe.

Before training as a Christian minister, Stephanie trained as a classical singer at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, completing a Bachelor of Music (Performance). These days, Stephanie doesn't get a lot of time for singing, but her son enjoys her rendition of the incy wincy spider.
