Evangelism in Cross Cultural Settings
Status: Elective
Learning Outcomes:
a) To introduce an approach to evangelism that can be used cross-culturally
b) To assist students in understanding how to minister in a cross-cultural setting
c) To provide the opportunity for students to equip others for evangelism in a cross-cultural setting
Unit outline:
Section A (40%): Theory of cross cultural evangelism
- In depth analysis of an approach to evangelism in a cross cultural setting
- Training and equipping others in evangelism
- Overview of one culture outside of an Australian context
- Cross-cultural communication
Section B (60%): Equipping for Evangelism in a Cross Cultural Setting:
- Use of an approach to evangelism for outreach of a sub-culture within an Australian context for at least 20 hours duration. This will include 5 hours of supervised reflection.
- Prepare and conduct training of others within an overseas cross-cultural setting for evangelism within that community for at least 40 hours durations. This training must take place within the overseas cross-cultural community. This will include at least 10 hours of supervised reflection.
