Church, Gospel and Australian Society

EM 771 (MDiv/MA only)

** New subject for 2010**

This course challenges contemporary approaches to evangelism and church growth that are effective only at reaching a shrinking section of the population. We will look at some key principles of contextualisation, soteriology and ecclesiology, going beyond superficial demographic analysis and learning techniques for deep cultural exegesis. This will serve as a basis for developing contextualised approach to evangelism, gospel and church. It will be illustrated with concrete examples and a number of contexts will be explored. It is not about trendy words and the latest thing in evangelism, but challenging our frameworks so that we can be faithful in our mission to an increasingly diverse and complex world.
