Undergraduate

BMin PathwayBachelor of Ministries & Bachelor of Theology

Our undergraduate degree courses are excellent preparation for your ministry in a wide range of fields including ordination, youth work, children's work, pastoral work, evangelism, church planting, AFES work, University and school chaplaincy, and mission work overseas. They provide three year training in the Bible, theology, church history, ethics, and practical ministry.

You can undertake this degree within the context of a learning community.

Both degrees are awards of the Australian College of Theology, and qualified students are eligible for Austudy, Abstudy and Youth Allowance. FEE-HELP is also available.

BTh PathwayStudying Undergraduate Degrees

Undergraduate degrees involve:

  • The completion of 96 credit points (24 subjects) which is equivalent to three years' full-time study (plus an honours year where applicable)
  • A substantial core of biblical and theological study
  • Some work in applied theology or Christian studies

Both degrees share a foundation of study. Satisfactory completion of this foundation is required before moving on to other subjects. The foundation units for both degrees can be cross-credited, so you don’t need to make a final choice between the degrees until second or third year.

Under an ACT proposal you may take eight extra units, (ie. A one year equivalent), and be awarded a double degree (BTh and BMin). Currently a futher 16 units are required. This is highly recommended for all students entering any full time ministry.

Requirements for Entry

The following regulations govern entrance to both degree programs. They have been set down by the Australian College of Theology:

  • You need to have qualified for admission to a degree course at an Australian university (completion of Year 12 VCE or equivalent). Mature age or special entry is possible.
  • Candidates who do not otherwise qualify for admission and who have attained the age of 23 years may be provisionally admitted as mature age students. Full admission shall be confirmed upon the candidate satisfactorily completing 12 credit points (BMin) or two subjects (BTh).
  • The minimum age for admission to Ridley is 20
