Bachelor Degrees

BMin PathwayBachelor of Ministry & Bachelor of Theology

Our undergraduate degree courses are excellent preparation for your ministry in a wide range of fields including ordination, youth work, children's work, pastoral work, evangelism, church planting, AFES work, university and school chaplaincy, and mission work overseas. They provide three years' training in the Bible, theology, church history, ethics, and practical ministry.

You can undertake either of these degrees within the context of a learning community.

Both degrees are awards of the Australian College of Theology, and qualified students are eligible for Austudy, Abstudy and Youth Allowance. FEE-HELP is also available.

BTh PathwayStudying Undergraduate Degrees

Undergraduate degrees require:

  • The completion of 96 credit points (24 subjects) which is equivalent to three years' full-time study (plus an Honours year where applicable);
  • A substantial core of biblical and theological study;
  • Some work in applied theology or Christian studies.

Both degrees share a foundation of study, and satisfactory completion of these foundation units is required before moving on to other units. The foundation units for both degrees can be cross-credited, so you don’t need to make a final choice between the degrees until second or third year.

Requirements for Entry

The following regulations govern entrance to both degree programs. They have been set down by the Australian College of Theology:

  • You need to have qualified for admission to a degree course at an Australian university (completion of Year 12 VCE or equivalent). Mature-age or special entry is possible.
  • Candidates who do not otherwise qualify for admission and who are 20 years of age or more, may be provisionally admitted as mature-age students. Full admission will be confirmed upon the candidate satisfactorily completing two units.
