Reformation History in Context Study Tour

CH 445 / CH 645

Wartburg Castle

Let history come alive as we visit towns and churches in Germany, France and Switzerland where Reformation greats, like Luther, Zwingli and Calvin, preached and taught. We experience castles and museums where the Bible was translated and published, where Emperors were challenged and religion transformed, and where the Protestant faith was born.

The tour is led by the Rev’d Rhys Bezzant, Dean of Missional Leadership at Ridley Melbourne, with the Rev’d Anthea McCall as co-leader. Rhys has lived a number of years in Germany and Austria and written on the Reformation and its aftermath. He first led this tour in 2007. Anthea formerly taught German in NSW high schools.

This tour can be taken as the subject CH 445/645 Reformation in Context, which forms part of an ACT degree, and which attracts Fee Help. Assessment involves compulsory attendance at a briefing meeting, a reading review before departure, and a report on theological and historical reflections after returning home. For more details, contact Rhys Bezzant at Ridley.
