To enable candidates to study further the theology and major issues of two substantial blocks of New Testament material.
Content
- The major issues in contemporary study and the central themes of Hebrews & 1 Peter
- Exegesis of the English text of 11–12 chapters or Greek text 7-8 chapters drawn from Hebrews & 1 Peter
Workload: One semester, 4 credit points, 39 contact hours
Status: Elective
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites / Exclusions: 16 credit points of core foundation units which include NT301 and 302.
Note: No material may be chosen in this unit that duplicates material in units NT421/431, NT422/432, NT426/436 or NT427/437

Required Texts
Students enrolling in either NT 428 or NT 638 are recommended to purchase at least one commentary for 1 Peter and one commentary for Hebrews from the list below. It would be beneficial also to own I. Howard Marshall’s volume, New Testament Theology: Many Witnesses, One Gospel, but this will be on reserve in the library if expense is an issue. Also particularly helpful is the Dictionary of the Later New Testament and Its Developments.
