Archaeology and the Bible

OT446/OT646 (distance only)

This subject introduces students to the methodologies and findings of archaeology, particularly as it influences biblical studies. It is thus ideal for students of archaeology who wish to see how their discipline impacts upon biblical studies. Students of the Bible will be introduced to archaeology on its own terms, not merely as a catalogue of how archaeological finds contribute to the Bible.

The subject covers the history and processes of archaeology over the last three centuries, looking at relevant methods and discoveries around the eastern end of the Mediterranean: Italy, Greece, Turkey, Mesopotamia, Palestine and Egypt. The content is developed and delivered by the Australian Institute of Archaeology.
