Visit Ridley events are held each year in May and October, giving opportunities for those considering theological studies to visit the campus and experience Ridley life. Details of these events are published on the Ridley Melbourne home page, and bookings can be made by emailing the Registrar.
Applying
Applying to study at Ridley requires the following process:
Step One: Form
Complete an Application for Theological Studies Form. These are available in pdf form here, or by contacting the Registrar’s office. (If you intend to study only a single unit, for example because you’re regularly enrolled at another institution, contact the Registrar first. You may not need to complete the entire form).
The completed application form must be forwarded to the Registrar. You need to ensure that you include the following with your form:
- an application fee of $30 ($75 for overseas students applying for/on a student visa)
- a recent passport-quality photograph (this will appear on your student card)
- certified copies of any prior qualifications
- a recent police check (no older than three years)*
- a copy of your Working With Children Card*
- a one-page summary of your Christian beliefs
- the names and contact details for two referees, one of which must be your Minister/Pastor. Please contact the Registrar if the Minister/Pastor is a family member.
*Please don't wait to receive your police check/working with children card before submitting your application form. These documents can be forwarded to the Registrar's office when you receive them. It would be appreciated if you could note on your application form that you have applied for them.
The application form can be completed at any time prior to commencing study and only needs to be completed once, at the beginning of your studies. A non-refundable late application fee of $80 will apply for applications received after the published closing dates. Please note that all photocopies of accompanying documents must be certified. Otherwise the originals must be sighted by the Registrar.
Step Two: References
Upon receipt of the completed application form a letter of acknowledgment will be sent to the applicant along with two blank reference forms with reply paid envelopes to forward to your referees. You need to ensure that the reference forms are returned to the Registrar before the appropriate date/s (listed below and on the reference forms).
Step Three: Faculty Interview
Once the Registrar’s office has received the completed references, you will be contacted to arrange an interview with a member of faculty to discuss course/unit options. Phone interviews can be organised if necessary.
Step Four: Registration
Attend the appropriate Registration day where applicants will complete their unit selections, sign up (where appropriate) for chapel teams, ministry development groups, launch camp, receive information about the library and so on. Further information about registration is set out below. eRidley students can complete similar processes by mail.
Step Five: Acceptance
All applicants remain provisional until the Registrar's office has received all parts of the application, reference forms are returned, and the application has been accepted by the Director. Applicants will then receive a letter from the Director confirming their acceptance to Ridley. An Acceptance Form will accompany this letter, and needs to be completed and returned to the Registrar. Provisional students must adhere to Ridley's Expectations and Rules (as published in the Ridley Handbook p 44). Please also note that provisional students who do not complete the application process by the end of the semester in which they applied with have their results withheld until their application is complete.

Registration
Step one: Registration day
Registration day for provisional and accepted students (on-campus studies) will be held on 8 February 2012, 2–6pm for semester one and full-year units. Registration for semester two will be held on 16 July, 10am-4pm.
Registration is important, as it allows opportunity for all of the following procedures:
- If you haven't already discussed your proposed course of study with a member of faculty, you can do so at this stage. This ensures that the proposed course of study is possible and suitable. If a Registration form has not been completed previously, one will be completed at this stage.
- Unit details are recorded in the student records system and an official Enrolment Summary is printed. You must check that all the details on this form are correct. The Enrolment Summary is for your records only. Prior discussion of unit selection at the faculty interview will mean that this steps is streamlined on Registration day.
- You will have an opportunity to discuss your campus involvement such as chapel/music teams and ministry development groups with a senior student, and complete the appropriate forms.
- You will receive a Student Manual and Library information.
- Semester fees invoices will be issued at Registration. Payment methods are detailed on the invoice. All enquiries regarding fees or discussion of payment options should be directed to the Accounts Department.
Step two: ACT enrolment form
During the second week of each semester you will receive your official Enrolment in ACT Units form listing all the units you have registered for in that semester. This form needs to be checked carefully and returned by the appropriate date as this is the basis upon which FEE-HELP is assigned, and finalises the reporting Ridley needs to complete for the Government.
Semester one Enrolment in ACT Units to be returned by 9 March.
Semester two Enrolment in ACT Units to be returned by 3 August.
Registration for eRidley students
Continuing eRidley students will have received their re-enrolment packs during December, and their completed forms are due back by 13 January. Registration packs including student and library cards will be sent in early February. New eRidley students will be mailed registration information once their application for study has been accepted. Students are requested to fill in and return their Registration form by the appropriate date listed above. During the second week of each semester each student will receive their offical Confirmation of Enrolment in ACT Units form listing all the units they have registered for in that semester. This form needs to be checked carefully and returned by the dates listed above as this is the basis upon which FEE-HELP is assigned and finalises the reporting Ridley needs to complete for the Government.
Late Registrations
Late registrations are only accepted during the first week of semester and will incur a non-refundable late registration fee of $50.
