The issue of intellectual property has increasingly come to the fore in our information age, particularly in light of digital technology which allows rapid and effortless copying anywhere in the world with no loss in reproduction quality. Christians tend to accept unquestioningly our societyís position on the issue. Unauthorized photocopying, internet file sharing and software piracy are wrong because the law says so. To obey the laws of the country as they stand is in itself a Christian thing to do (eg 1 Pt 2:13), but should the laws be changed? This short article is meant to be a starting point for a Christian perspective on intellectual property...
