The Peaceable Kingdom by Stanley Hauerwas by Justin Denholm

Peacable KingdomThe Peaceable Kingdom is subtitled “A primer in Christian ethics”. Hauerwas freely admits that he does not know what this means, but this book represents a rare attempt to provide an overview understanding of his approach to ethical living.

Hauerwas sees ethics as being of primary importance to the truth of Christianity. A central part of his ethics is character which can only be developed and displayed as part of a community of faith and understood within their story. Book Review: Gifted to Lead by Tamie Davis

Nancy’s main message is that if you’re a woman with leadership or teaching gifts, God did not make a mistake when he made you. This is an intensely personal issue for her: she’s been refused roles because she’s a woman (even when the person refusing her recognised that she was more gifted than the person they gave it to!) and has time and again been placed in the position of breaking new ground as the first woman on an all male leadership team.
