A renewed emphasis on mission - both in Australia and overseas has led to the development of four new subjects at Ridley Melbourne in 2010.
Church Planting will be taught by Guy Mason, Mark Leach and Tim Foster. The subject looks at the biblical basis for church planting, different models, as well as the characteristics and spiritual life of the church planter.
Another new subject, Church in Australian Society examines the relationship of the historical Australian church and its surrounding culture to help students develop an understanding of church that has mission at its centre, and the capacity to contextualise the gospel for our culture.
In recognition that all ministry is cross-cultural, whether in Australia or overseas, students will take Ministry in Culturally Diverse Contexts and have the option to study Introduction to Missiology. Both these will be taught by Dr Moira Dale, missiologist, missionary educator and former CMS missionary.
